Ok, so where is spring? Shaping up to be an interesting weather week, with a special weather statement in effect for Ottawa North – Kanata – Orléans. It’s calling for freezing rain and snow possible late Tuesday into Wednesday morning.
Precipitation associated with a Colorado low pressure system will spread into much of central and eastern Ontario Tuesday afternoon. The precipitation will likely start off as light rain or snow, but may transition to freezing rain Tuesday evening. The freezing rain may persist for several hours, particularly over central Ontario. Some portions of central Ontario may also receive 5 to 10 cm of snow after the freezing rain late Tuesday night into Wednesday.
The exact forecast track of this low pressure system is still in question, but portions of central and eastern Ontario should be prepared for potential challenging driving conditions late Tuesday into Wednesday. Warnings may be required as the event draws nearer. (Environment Canada)
