Thursday March 8th, 2018 marks the day the world celebrates in many ways, us women. Now, more than ever, there’s a strong call-to-action to press forward and progress gender parity. There’s a strong call to #PressforProgress motivating and uniting friends, colleagues and whole communities to think, act and be gender inclusive.
So how will you celebrate this day? Luckily here in Ottawa, it’s more than one day to celebrate starting tomorrow with Walk In Her Shoes.
CARE’s Walk In Her Shoes challenge is a global movement that gives you an opportunity to show your solidarity with women and girls in developing countries, all while raising critical funds to help them lift themselves out of poverty. This takes place starting tomorrow at 11:30am on Parliament Hill.
Wednesday night celebrates International Women’s Day with laughs at Yuk Yuk’s Comedy on Elgin with 2 shows, 6:30 and 9pm. The night includes all female comedians with the likes of Ashley Krawchenko, Jen Hayward, Rachelle Elie and more with proceeds to Harmony House Women’s Shelter who rely on donations, sponsorship and fundraising to help women and children.
And on Thursday night Ottawa Police are hosting a Women’s Only Recruitment Night at Ben Franklin Place on Centrepointe Drive from 6 to 9pm. Participants will meet police women from different ranks and have the opportunity to speak to them about their unique experiences as a police officer.
And those are just a few of the ways to celebrate International Women’s Day 2018, there are many more and you can see more here at a website dedicated to our big day! Happy International Women’s Day from Breakfast With The Girls here at Jewel 98.5.
