A sequel to the acclaimed 1964 film Mary Poppins has been filmed and is due out this Christmas. The film stars Emily Blunt in the role of Mary Poppins, as well as Lin-Manuel Miranda, Julie Walters, Colin Firth, and Meryl Streep. Set in 1930s London, 25 years after the 1964 film, ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ sees the former nanny of Jane and Michael Banks re-visiting them after a family tragedy.
The film is scheduled for release on December 25, 2018, giving it the longest gap between live-action film sequels in history at 54 years. Julie Andrews won’t be appearing in the sequel, but has fully endorsed Emily Blunt playing the role she originated. On the other hand, Dick Van Dyke will make a cameo appearance. A teaser trailer was just released a few days ago. Watch it below.
