The Beatles met Elvis Presley only once, at his home in Los Angeles while they were on their second US Tour in August 1965. Remembering the occasion for a Wired Autocomplete interview online, Paul McCartney says, “It was just like a dream, really, meeting Elvis. We’d fantasized about him since we were kind of young teenagers and here he was in the flesh. So it was great. It was lovely.”
They talked and played Elvis’s guitars. But Paul says it was the King’s TV that he remembers best. “I think the most amazing thing besides actually just meeting him… he had the first remote television channel changer that we’d ever seen. He was just aiming it at the TV, and the channels were changing, and we go ‘Whoa! He can turn the channels without approaching the television set!’ So we were very impressed by that.”

Paul has been making the media rounds lately, in support of his new album and upcoming concert tour. He’ll be at the Videotron Centre in Quebec City on September 17th, and at the Bell Centre in Montreal on September 20th, before heading to Western Canada. He spent 30 minutes in front of the camera for GQ magazine lately, going over about a dozen Beatles songs and deconstructing them for fans of the Fab Four… well worth watching!
