Oprah Winfrey’s moving speech at the Golden Globes last night has some fans and fellow celebrities calling for her presidential run. The actress and former talk-show host accepted the Cecil B.DeMille lifetime achievement award, and it didn’t take long for Twitter to start lighting up with the hashtag Oprah2020. Comedian Sarah Silverman tweeted “Oprah/Michelle 2020.” Winfrey brought the crowd to silence and tears with her speech.In case you missed it, here’s what Oprah had to say:
There was much Canadian talent behind some of the accolades at the Golden Globe Awards last night. Montreal director Jean-Marc Vallee’s series “Big Little Lies” won several awards and was onstage as it took the trophy for best limited series or TV movie. Toronto-based author Margaret Atwood didn’t attend the show, but she showed plenty of social-media support for “The Handmaid’s Tale,” which is based on her best-selling novel and for which she is a consulting producer. The show had several wins, including best T-V drama and best actress for Elisabeth Moss.
