A veteran comedian has died. Marty Allen was the baby-faced, bug-eyed funnyman who had a shock of black hair shooting out the top of his head. His spokeswoman says Marty Allen died Monday night at age 95 from pneumonia complications.
Allen formed one half of the hit comedic duo Allen and Rossi. The duo produced a number of hit comedy records and appeared 44 times on the “Ed Sullivan Show”. Allen and Rossi parted ways in 1968 and Allen went on to make hundreds of television appearances in the 70’s and 80’s, both in serious roles and on daytime television. For many years, Allen was a regular on the game show “Hollywood Squares.” (The Canadian Press, Variety.com)
