The two met years ago, the two had a lot in common, the two quickly became friends and now that two have recorded together and are touring together, nice how things work out so well.
The two in question are Johnny Reid and Alan Frew of the band Glass Tiger and Alan and Johnny have recently combined their efforts to revive some great classics from Glass Tiger in the new CD, 31.
Some friends also came along to lend their help on such great songs as My Song, with Alan Doyle of Great Big Sea helping to turn it into an East Coast, celtic chant , complete with horns and whistles. Julian Lennon lends his voice to duet on Thin Red Line and apparently they almost had Vince Gill too…almost.
“We almost had Vince Gill to do a duet on Healing Hands but at the last minute he joined some piddly little band called The Eagles,” laughed Frew.
31 features 11 classic Glass Tiger songs with two separate versions of Someday and Diamond Sun plus a new version of the Reid-Frew composition Fire It Up and a brand new composition, Wae Yer Family.
You get to check out live segments of the new versions that will be performed when Frew and Glass Tiger members Al Connolly and Sam Reid appear as special guests on the 43-date Johnny Reid Revival tour which kicked off in Nanaimo on February 28th and we get our date in Ottawa Friday April 13th at TD Place.
