The most expensive TV series ever produced will make it’s debut on Netflix on Friday. ‘The Crown’ is a royal drama, set in post-World War Two Britain, beginning with young Princess Elizabeth and Philip Mountbatten’s Royal wedding. British actress Claire Foy, plays Elizabeth and actor Matt Smith portrays her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh. Early reviews say she is amazing!
Netflix has invested in two seasons of “The Crown”, which was written by scriptwriter Peter Morgan, who also wrote “The Queen”. His team of researchers went through archival material, biographies, cabinet minutes and conversations with people linked to the royal family. What they’ve come up with is a mix true events and fiction, for more the personal moments in the series. According to reports the new series cost a record $130 million (13 million per episode), making it the costliest television production ever.
