Growing up as an only child and in the environment I did, I’m so glad one of my Dad’s Aunts introduced me to reading at an early age, as every book quickly became my best friend.
From Anne Of Green Gables to For The Love Of Benji to The Life And Time Of Grizzly Adams and so many more along the way, they quickly became my greatest escape.
It even evolved into my adulthood as I watched my Dad sit down to read at least a chapter every night and that now has become my ritual as well.
I’m all for children learning to read or being read to as it introduces them to a brand new world out there, maybe an escape of their own, whatever the case, it’s a great way to explore a whole new world.
So I think Story Time at Rideau Hall is a fantastic idea for kids of all ages. This outdoor family activity will be hosted in collaboration with Frontier College, a Canadian literacy organization where volunteers will invite visitors to settle in under the Reading Tent to read books and participate in fun literacy activities.
Story Time at Rideau Hall starts June 29th and runs til August 25th and runs every Friday and Saturday from 1-3pm.
