Romantic Traffic……Tell No Lies……Nova Heart…..Old Emotions, oh the list goes on when it comes the 80s band The Spoons.
The Spoons have gone through many formations since their inception back in 1979 but the two constants remain the same as in Gordon Deppe and Sandy Horne.
Those two along with The Spoons bring their show to town tonight at Mavericks on Rideau Street.
I’ve been lucky enough to know Gordon for years and the guy is just downright brilliant and creative and a real thrill to watch on stage. Not to mention his not so typical autobiography SpoonFed: My Life With The Spoons.
I devoured that book in one sitting as it was like he was sitting across from me telling me his story. Gordon has a knack for words, not only in his brilliant songwriting but for also telling the stories that matter as he does in this book.
In fact, he has taken to reading exerts from his book to children in school to let them know they’re not alone, he’s been there too…that shy kid in school who was learning but carried that guitar that made him cool to would be friends.
Yes Gordon is human and as real as they come so don’t miss out on this great show tonight at Mavericks, you’ll be so glad you did.
