Special Olympics Fundraiser in Kanata This Weekend

Something to keep in mind if you’re in the west end this weekend. It’s a fundraiser organized by the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. Members of various law enforcement agencies and the Ministry of Corrections will be holding a Voluntary Mall Toll on Saturday, May 12 fromĀ 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Sobey’s location at 700 Terry Fox Drive in Kanata. Law enforcement members and local Special Olympics athletes will be accepting donations at the parking lot exits.
All funds raised through Torch Run events support community-based Special Olympics Ontario activities. It assists community programs with a variety of expenses including travel to games, accommodations, meals, staff support, grants to new community programs, athlete training, public education, volunteer/coach training and development initiatives like school programs. The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle for Special Olympics. (OPP news release and image)
