Fan or not, everyone knows and loves the Canadian Iconic East Coast band in one way or other as Great Big Sea are just that kind of band. Its either a song they sing that gets stuck in your head for days, or maybe seeing lead singer Alan Doyle pal it up with his buddy Russell Crowe in the entertainment world. Maybe it was that other time you saw Alan Doyle in any of his numerous acting roles like Republic Of Doyle or more. Or then again maybe it was reading one of the great books by Alan Doyle, wait a minute, books you say?
Yes Alan Doyle has yet another book out to follow up his last successful outing Where I Belong, talking about his growing up years down East. The man is a brilliant writer, telling you his story like you’re not even reading it but he’s sitting there across from you and you two are just chatting except well, he’s doing more of the talking 😉 Honestly it was one of the best books I’ve read in a long time and I couldn’t put it down til it was done.
His new one is called A Newfoundlander In Canada and its in stores right now. He will also be in town tonight to talk about it at the Writers Festival at the Christ Church Cathedral at 414 Sparks Street.
Yes books are available for purchase at the event tonight with proceeds supporting the free children’s literacy programs.
Listen tomorrow morning with us Girls as Alan stops by to chat about his book and more.
