SIU Investigates Shooting In Almonte

Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after a woman was seriously injured in a shooting involving provincial police in Almonte.  The Special Investigations Unit says two OPP officers went to a residence Tuesday morning as part of an investigation, and that while the officers were on the porch two dogs came out and both officers were bitten.  The agency then says one officer discharged her firearm several times at one of the dogs. The bullets struck and injured a 64 year old woman who was on the porch with police at the time.  The woman and both officers were treated in hospital, while the dog died of its injuries at the scene.
