Several Orleans Businesses Affected By Weekend Fire

A devastating weekend fire in an Orleans strip mall is being investigated by the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office.  The fire started inside George & Son’s Upholstery on St. Joseph Boulevard shortly after noon Saturday.  Two employees were working inside when flames broke out across the room. Despite their attempts to extinguish the blaze, the flames spread rapidly and the employees called 911.  By then, the fire spread to the nearby A&T Nails and Spa shop and Precious Ones consignment store.  Those businesses received the bulk of the damage. Other businesses like Flower Mania and Little Turkish Village restaurant sustained mostly smoke damage. Affected business owners are trying to figure out when they’ll be able to reopen.  The fire isn’t considered suspicious, though the exact cause hasn’t been confirmed. (local files)
