Rideau-Canal-Skateway Closed With Rainfall Warning in Effect

The National Capital Commission has closed the Rideau Canal Skateway as double-digit highs and rain approach the capital. Ten to 20 millimetres of rain is expected with highs of about 11 degrees Celsius.

The green flag was flying yesterday, the final day of Winterlude, but ice conditions were poor and the N-C-C said some areas of the Skateway were “unskateable.”

In a tweet,  it says the Canal will close “temporarily” in order to preserve the ice surface and allow the Skateway to reopen again.
