Redbull “Crashed Ice” Weekend Is Here!

A reminder, several road closures and traffic restrictions are in place for the Red Bull “Crashed Ice” event, taking place tonight and tomorrow night on the Rideau Canal next to the Chateau Laurier Hotel.

The event is expected to attract as many as 20 thousand spectators.

City officials recommend you leave your vehicle at home or at a Park-And-Ride lot and take OC Transpo to and from the area tonight and tomorrow.

At the Crashed Ice event tonight, the world junior championships will be held from 6pm until 10pm

Saturday night it’s the Ice Cross Downhill World Finals.

Admission is free

Not every viewing area provides a look at the entire track, but promoters promise large screens will project the races “from every angle.”

And do dress warmly if you are going to attend.

Ottawa Public Health has issued a frost bite advisory, and later this evening, the windchill could dip to as low as minus 30.
