Property Taxes, Water Bills, To Increase In 2018

Mayor Jim Watson released the draft 2018 budget today.

Property taxes will increase two per cent

In addition to the property tax increase, the budget also proposes a four per cent increase in the water rate, the waste water rate will increase five per cent and the stormwater fee will increase 5 per cent.

In 2018 on a home assessed at $404,000 property tax payers in the city will pay an additional 76 dollars, rural property owners will pay $62 dollars more.

Mayor Jim Watson called $3.42 billion dollar budget  “balanced, affordable and progressive.”
