The Ottawa Police Service Major Crime Section is investigating the capital region’s first murder of 2018. On January 9, 2018, at approximately 8:30 pm, patrol officers responded to a call of gunshots in the 3300 area of Paul Anka Drive. A male victim in severe medical distress was quickly located. Officers tended to the victim until paramedics took over and transported the male to the Ottawa Hospital. The male died of his injuries. The victim is identified as 23 year old Tarek Dakhil of Ottawa.
