Burt Reynolds, the charismatic star of such films as Deliverance, The Longest Yard and Smokey and the Bandit has died. He was 82. His representative said he died of cardiac arrest earlier this morning at Jupiter Medical Center in Florida. He had been suffering from heart problems for a number of years.
Burt Reynolds was the No. 1 box-office attraction for a five-year stretch starting in the late 1970s. He made a comeback in the 90s and received an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of porn director Jack Horner in Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘Boogie Nights’. He had been set to appear in Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Hollywood.”
