It maybe Canada’s 150th but the Order of Canada is marking 50 years with some quintessentially Canadian additions too.
It was on July 1st, 1967, that the Order received its first members, and the list of appointees will grow by 99 this Canada Day.
The newest honourees include soccer star Christine Sinclair, actress Catherine O’Hara and musician Alan Doyle of Great Big Sea fame.
There are also community and business leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs and even the Prince of Wales.
All told, some seven-thousand people have their names on the rolls.
