Every Spring and Fall, Heartwood House hosts the ‘OC Transpo Unclaimed Items Sale’. Items like cell phones, purses, wallets, umbrellas, musical instruments, backpacks will be available for purchase… You wouldn’t believe what people leave behind on the bus, and then never try to claim back. All unclaimed items that have past the holding period are sold at the sales.
This is an opportunity for bargain hunters to purchase the many quality items. Smaller items are sold from a range of 25 cents to $5, with the more valuable items sold by silent auction. Previous experience suggests there will likely be quite a lineup to get in, so you might want to get there early. Some of the more desirable items will go pretty quickly. Upscale electronics like phones and laptops are sold in a silent-auction format and you should plan on sticking around for a while if those kinds of items interest you.
The sale will conducted on Saturday, November 4th at Heartwood House, 404 McArthur Avenue in Vanier, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Proceeds received from the City of Ottawa will be used to offset operating expenses for programs Heartwood House offers to teach valuable employment skills. Over 30,000 items are received at the Lost & Found each year and approximately 26% of these items are returned to their rightful owners.
