The city today recognized the actions of OC Transpo employees who in the last year helped residents in their moments of need.
16 OC Transpo employees were honoured today for their actions during 2016 as part of the City’s 27th annual Transecure Awards ceremony held today at the Shenkman Arts Centre.
Among the recipients was Bus Operator Frank.
Frank noticed a young woman at a bus station wearing only flip-flops at the outset of a major winter storm.
After being kicked out of her home by her partner, she didn’t have enough time to get properly dressed and was forced to walk a long distance to the bus station.
Frank provided a refuge for her until special constables could escort her to a family member’s home.
The City says the Transecure program is a community watch program on wheels.
