Obese Thai Monkey Gets Put On Strict Diet

Canada had Darwin the IKEA Monkey and now Thailand has their own celebrity simian. A wild monkey nicknamed “Uncle Fat” by locals is making headlines around the world, for a less auspicious reason than a keen fashion sense.

The monkey has been gorging himself on junk food and soda that tourists leave behind. The unhealthy diet has caused Uncle to balloon to around 60 pounds – three times the normal weight for his species.

Local wildlife officials have now captured him and put him on a strict diet, limiting him to two 400-gram meals per day consisting of lean protein, fruits, veggies.
