Night Owls Beware!

Are you one of those who loves to stay up very late at night or well into the morning hours? That may not be such a good thing in terms of your health.  A new study suggests being a night owl could have serious health consequences.  Researchers from the University of Surrey in the U.K. and Northwestern University in Chicago found that the people who identified themselves as “definite evening types” had a 10% higher risk of dying over the study period than people who said they were “definite morning types.” The study lasted 6 and a half years, analyzing about half a million people from ages 30 to 73. The researchers also found that night owls were more likely to have health problems like diabetes, neurological problems and respiratory disorders. The study’s lead author says an important message to night owls is to be much more vigilant about living a healthy lifestyle. (The Canadian Press)
