New Rainfall Record For Capital Region

We can now say 2017 is the wettest year on record for Ottawa

The 39 mm of rain on Sunday pushed 2017 into first place for most rain in a year.

Ottawa has received 1028 mm of rain this year, with two months left.

Ottawa received 1000.7 mm of rain back in 2006.

And, a rainfall warning remains in effect this afternoon.

In Ottawa and Gatineau today there have been numerous reports of localized flooding.  Of note, there was reportedly two feet of water on Island Park Drive under the 417 overpass.  More flooding was reported downtown, on Laurier Street West at Lyon Street.

There is so much water in a Gatineau mobile home park that all traffic is closed and 50 people have been evacuated.

Along with sporadic power outages, five public schools have closed for the day due to the power outages and plumbing issued linked to the heavy rainfall

The Rideau Valley Conservation Authority reported Monday morning that flows on the Rideau and its tributaries are continuing to rise.
