Unfortunately, actress Meryl Streep won’t be at her own party when she’s inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame next week. She has a last-minute production conflict as part of her role in the HBO series “Big Little Lies,” and won’t be able to attend the May 6th ceremony in Asbury Park. Meryl is originally from Summit, New Jersey. She’s part of a class that includes Debbie Harry of Blondie, disco queen Gloria Gaynor, Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons, and E Street Band guitarist and “Sopranos” star Steven Van Zandt.
Meanwhile, Danny DeVito will get his day in his native New Jersey. The Asbury Park City Council has honoured the actor by declaring his birthday, November 17th, as “Danny DeVito Day” in his hometown. Danny was born in Neptune Township, but was raised in Asbury Park, N.J. Who can forget Danny in the classic TV series “Taxi”, as Louis DePalma. That’s where he met his future wife Rhea Perlman, who played ‘Carla”.
