How Much Food Do YOU Waste?

An international environmental group says Canada is wasting too much food, with each Canadian on average tossing away 170 kilograms (or 375 lbs) of food a year. The Commission for Environmental Co-operation says from farm to table, 396 kilos *873 lbs) of food are spilled, spoiled, wasted or lost per person per year. Aside from the billions of dollars in economic loss, the waste also creates greenhouse-gas emissions in landfills. The commission recommends that restaurants reduce portions, and that all retailers sell cosmetically imperfect produce at a discount. (The Canadian Press)
