Let me tell you about my friend Lauren Davis. She was funny, she was brilliant, she had a smile that could light up the room before you even walked in.
I worked with Lauren back in the day here in Ottawa, she was a brilliant news person and she actually got married about a month before I did and offered many words of wisdom for my big day weeks later.
I truly enjoyed having Lauren in my life, she was that kind of positive that the world needs more of.
Lauren passed away far too young a few years ago of a death that is still unknown. It just happened, she didn’t wake up one day and she left so many reeling from her sudden departure.
Of course I can only speak from a friend point of view not from someone she called Mom. I couldn’t even imagine what the poor woman must have went through.
That woman is the Toronto radio legend Erin Davis who has stepped away from radio and took time to mourn and reflect, and write a book about her feelings and more.
Today Mourning Has Broken is out in stores from Erin Davis. Erin’s book is about love, loss and reclaiming joy with a foreword from Jann Arden. Olivia Newton-John even calls it, “A gift of love to others who are seeking solace.”
Erin Davis will be in town Thursday night as part of the Ottawa International Writer’s Festival to support her current book tour.
I will be heading off to buy her book today and I will see you Thursday night at the festival, bring kleenex.
