MEC Stops Selling Brands Owned By U.S. Gun Manufacturer

The head of Mountain Equipment Co-op says he hopes the company
can play a role in advancing the discussion around gun control.
David Labistour announced Thursday that M-E-C will stop selling
several outdoor brands owned by a U.S. gun manufacturer.
A petition called on the retailer to cut ties with Vista Outdoor,
because the company makes a weapon similar to one used in a recent mass shooting in Parkland Flproda. Labistour says M-E-C listened to a spectrum of opinions on the issue, and tried to find what he calls “the opinion of the middle.”  Mountain Equipment’s Ottawa location is on Richmond Road in Westboro.
