‘Mayor For A Day’ Opportunity For Local High School Students

Do you know any civic-minded high school students who’d like to sit in the Mayor’s chair for a day? Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson, in conjunction with Youth Ottawa have just announced a ‘Mayor For A Day’ initiative. Applicants must be residents of the City of Ottawa and enrolled in Grades 9-12 at an Ottawa high school. Those interested are invited to submit either an essay (maximum 1000 words) or a 5 minute video with a responses to the question: “What are your 3 ideas to improve the City of Ottawa?”

Entries must be received online by 7:00 PM on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. The selected applicants (2 of them) will be named “Mayor for a Day” and have the opportunity to spend time with Mayor Watson and City of Ottawa staff, learn about the Mayor’s office, and discuss their ideas.
