Addictions can be anything really…..alcohol, drugs, gambling, food….the list is endless. The ones who suffer are the people with the illness but the ones who stand by and watch also suffer in their own way too. I’ve learned along the way that you can totally hate the disease but don’t hate the person as it’s not them, it’s the illness doing it.
I’ve lost a few to too many to alcohol in my life so when I got asked many years ago to be part of Recovery Day Ottawa, I was on board without any hesitation. Their latest event is coming up next Saturday night and I will once again be on the stage emceeing while learning, laughing and listening.
Learn Laugh Listen is an evening to benefit Recovery Day Ottawa where you can learn the neuro-science and research behind substance use disorder and a Q&A with Drs Kim Hellemens and John Weekes.
Laugh with comedian Alex Wood and Listen with Award winning singer and songwriting band Twin Flames.
It all takes place Saturday May 5th at Bronson Centre and if you need tickets, drop my good friend and the guy behind this whole thing a line, the amazing Gord Garner at email@example.com 🙂
Keep it close to win tickets and I hope to see you there next Saturday.
