Homemade Jam, Cheese & Roasted Coffee Vendors Given The Green Light To Sell In The ByWard Market

Ottawa City Council has given the thumbs up to Local coffee roasters, cheese makers and jam producers who could soon be selling their wares at stands at the ByWard and Parkdale markets. The city is expanding the criteria for its outdoor markets to include a new “microprocessor” category. Microprocessors are considered small-scale, local producers who are “actively and directly engaged in the transformation or processing of an agri-food product” intended for consumption. Depending on how many new vendors are recruited, the new stands could be in place at the ByWard and Parkdale markets as early as May.
