Gone But Not Forgotten

The day I heard Dan Fogelberg passed away from prostrate cancer back in 2007 took a chunk out of me.  Dan sang those songs that brought tears to your eyes no matter how many times you heard them.  He made you feel things, he made you remember, he hit you at the core of your soul and it looked back.  I still miss him and his music but thankfully his music lives on.

Now his tribute CD will help him live on in a different way with artists such as Vince Gill, Amy Grant, The “new” Eagles and more doing their part to touch the soul of one of the greatest singer/songwriters there was.

A Tribute To Dan Fogelberg comes out this Friday with the likes of Boz Scaggs doing his version of Hard To Say, country singer Zac Brown tackles the heart-wrenching Leader Of The Band, a tribute to Dan’s bandleader father, Lawrence Fogelberg, while the band Train covers their own version of Same Auld Lang Syne.

Michael McDonald also plays a part and says, “I first heard some of Dan’s music from Irving Azoff, while visiting him in the early 70’s. He played me some demos of songs by a young kid from Peoria, Illinois; a part of the country we’re both from.  I was immediately transported to a musical place that I would look forward to returning to time and again over the years with each new release of a Dan Fogelberg album. So proud to be part of this project.”
