Gas Prices On The Rise Again Over The Long Weekend

Gas prices are set to rise just in time for the Canada Day long weekend. Chief Petroleum Analyst with EnPro, Roger McKnight, is forecasting a two cent hike overnight into Friday, and another five to six cents by Sunday. The price hike will put an end to the roughly month-long price war we’ve seen in the Ottawa area, where the price has been 5 to 6 cents below the average across the rest of the province. By Sunday, we’re likely to see prices of about $1.37/litre. This hike comes mainly after a four to six week stoppage at the Syncrude plant in Edmonton. That stoppage has traders worried about supply, and there’s no telling when prices might drop again.
