The city of Houston is honouring George H. W. Bush with a tribute at City Hall where attendees are being asked to wear colorful socks. It’s a nod to one of the former president’s favourite fashion accessories.
The Mayor of Houston is hosting Monday evening’s event in front of City Hall featuring music and community leaders. The Mayor says those in attendance should “wear their own colorful socks.”
George H. W. Bush often sported bright socks at public events, sometimes with loud and unusual patterns. The former President died Friday at his Houston home at age 94. A special pair has even been picked out for his funeral. The 41st president and World War II Navy pilot will be laid to rest wearing socks adorned with an image of squadron of planes. His body was being transported to Washington on Monday for a state funeral later this week.
