Flood Update

Waters continued to rise across the region and are expected to peak today at the earliest…the forecast calls for a chance of rain on both today and tomorrow.

Federal, provincial and municipal offices and schools in Gatineau are  closed today And Hospitals in Hull and Gatineau cancelled all non-urgent surgeries and procedures that were scheduled for today.

An advisory  was sent out late last night for the  Champlain Township advising any residents who use water from wells and the Ottawa River that they should not drink or use their water until further notice due to a fuel spill. Any residents who smell fuel in their water should evacuate immediately.

The City of Clarence-Rockland is asking citizens to limit their water consumption. The high levels of the Ottawa River is causing a pressure on the sewer network. Residents can assist by taking showers instead of baths, avoiding using the dishwasher and limiting laundry.
