First Taste Of Wintry Weather

Much of Ontario will be getting its first taste of winter this evening — and areas around Lake Huron and Georgian Bay may get the worst of it. Environment Canada has issued snow squall watches from Sarnia through Barrie and north to Sault Ste. Marie, saying that conditions are ripe for lake effect snow. Special weather advisories have been issued for a good chank of the province. Here in the capital,  a winter weather travel advisory in effect for tonight – warning of blowing snow conditions and reduced visibility as showers change to flurries and we experience very gusty winds. (BN)

Here’s the local  advisory from Environment Canada:

Snowfall and rapidly falling temperatures could affect road conditions this evening As this front passes temperatures will drop and scattered rain showers will change to flurries in the evening. Temperatures will continue to drop well below freezing late this evening. As a result, untreated surfaces could become icy and slippery. In addition, gusty westerly winds will develop tonight associated with a low pressure system with reduced visibility in blowing snow possible;
