Fewer Than Half Of Canadians Now Identify As Middle Class

A recent poll by Ekos Research for The Canadian Press suggests fewer than half of all Canadians now identify as members of the middle class — a steep drop from nearly 70 per cent in 2002.This comes as the Liberals plan to unveil their federal budget next week, which is expected to focus on that demographic.

The telephone poll of about 78-hundred Canadians was conducted between November 7th and December 10th of last year, and had a margin of error of plus or minus 1.1 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
