Looking back on January 2018, we had two full months in that month alone. The Wolf Moon and Snow Moon, which meant the Blue Moon as well, as when a full moon happens twice in one month, they call it a Blue Moon hence the phrase, “once in a blue moon.”
Hardly into March 2018, and it’s happening again….this time around it’s the Worm Moon and Sap Moon, again making it a Blue Moon, as yes it only happens once in a blue moon but I guess in 2018’s case, it’s twice in a Blue Moon…..hmmm 😉
The first full moon will occur this week, tomorrow in fact, and the second full moon will be visible on Saturday, March 31.
March’s first full moon was traditionally called the Full Worm Moon by Native Americans and according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, at the time of this moon, the ground begins to soften enough for earthworm casts to reappear, signaling the return of spring.
Bring on Spring I say 🙂
