Not hard to believe how many of us absolutely love Jim Cuddy and when I say “us”, I do include the guys there too. How can you not really, Jim is just that guy….he sings, he writes, he’s good looking, he loves being Canadian, he loves hockey, did I mention, he’s good looking 😉 Like a fine wine, better with age he is and funny thing is, girls love him and it’s okay with their hubbys as they consider Jim, their wife’s boyfriend and for them, it’s a bit of a “mancrush” too, if you will.
Also not hard to believe that our beloved Blue Rodeo is an eighties band considering all that great songwriting that gives the band the longevity but it’s so much more than that, it’s their ever changing style and getting out and trying new things, like taking a solo break every once in a while.
And it’s time for a solo break from everyone’s “boyfriend” Jim Cuddy with his fourth solo CD called Constellation……insert sighs and swoons 😉
Jim describes his songwriting for his new CD, “I’ve always found fascination in the smallest details of human behavior. It’s been something that I look at and remember, the details of an exchange that I witnessed or an exchange that I have and there never seems to be an end of things to write about. Of course, as you get older there are bigger things that happen in your life that you realize you’ll never totally understand. I’m never at a loss of things to write about.”
In support of the release of Constellation, Jim Cuddy will head out on a cross-Canada tour beginning February 8th in Saint John, New Brunswick and yes there is an Ottawa stop, National Arts Centre on Thursday April 5th.
Joining Jim on tour are his band mates Colin Cripps (guitar), Anne Lindsay (fiddle), Steve O’Connor (keyboards), Bazil Donovan (bass) and Joel Anderson (drums). Special guests include Barney Bentall as well as Jim’s sons Devin Cuddy and Sam Polley.
There you have it……your double does of Jim Cuddy, a new solo CD and a tour with a stop here in Ottawa, you’re welcome 🙂
