Here’s a heart-warming story…. Stella and John Chhan have owned Donut City in Seal Beach, California, for nearly 30 years. The couple came to the U.S. from Cambodia as refugees in 1979, and purchased the doughnut shop about 10 years later. They’ve been working side by side, selling tasty treats seven days a week, for all that time.
However, lately, it’s just been John behind the counter – Stella suffered an aneurysm. Now, John closes up shop as soon as he can, once he sells out of his product and rushes to a rehab facility to tend to his wife wife.
Once their faithful customers got wind of what had happened to Stella, they banded together to help the family… by showing up early and buying up all of the inventory. Since the word went out on social media, the donut shop has been sold out of goods by noon every day, and on some days three hours earlier than usual.
Last weekend, so many customers turned out, John was able to leave at 10 AM to see his wife.
