Classic Movie Celebrates It’s 80th Anniversary On Big Screen

To say I love this movie, well frankly my dear it would be true 😉  I’ve seen the movies too many times to count and I’ve read the book almost the same amount.  It features my all-time favorite actress Vivien Leigh as Southern Belle, Katie Scarlett O’Hara and Clark Gable as that scoundrel Rhett Butler.

Set against the backdrop of the Civil War and Reconstruction, Gone With the Wind tells the story of Scarlett O’Hara (Vivien Leigh), a headstrong Southern Belle who will stop at nothing to win the man she loves, Ashley Wilkes (Leslie Howard), and preserve her beloved family plantation, Tara. Complications ensue in the form of Rhett Butler (Clark Gable), a cad with a secret heart of gold, who knows he and Scarlett are truly meant for each other.

The 1939 epic, which received eight Oscars (plus two honorary Academy Awards), is coming back to theaters for its 80th anniversary courtesy of Warner Bros. and Fathom Events and yes it’s hitting Ottawa theatres too, see link below.

Tomorrow may be another day but the day after is the day to see Gone With The Wind on the big screen, Happy 80th 🙂
