What’s the longest you’ve every kept a vehicle? I had a 1999 RAV 4 that lasted for 16 years, and over 400,000 km before I finally had to let it go. There’s a certain freedom in driving a car for a long time after it’s been paid off. But not every vehicle can go the distance. iSeeCars.com has put together a list of the most popular models that owners tend to keep for 15 years or more. Nine of the top 15 models are the same brand. Can you guess which one?
Toyota tops the list of cars that people keep well into their automotive teenage years, with Honda/Acura in second place. Not surprising, both brands have reputations for build quality and customer loyalty. The entire list is dominated by Japanese brands, with the VW Golf being the one German car that people tend to hang on to. There were no U.S. brands. Interestingly, most of the vehicles on the list are SUV’s, trucks and mini vans going back to the 2003 model year.
