Canadians In Spain Urged To Avoid Las Ramblas-Barcelona

Ottawa is urging Canadians in Spain to avoid the Las Ramblas area of Barcelona, after a van plowed through a crowd in the popular tourist district.

Global Affairs says Canadians in the city should monitor local media and follow the directions of local authorities.

They say questions should be directed to the Canadian consulate, which is just a kilometre away from the scene of the attack.

Meantime, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland are among those tweeting their

condolences.
