Canada will introduce legislation this spring that will address
the problem of air travellers being bumped from flights.
Yesterday’s announcement came as a video went viral online,
showing a male passenger being dragged by security off a United
Airlines flight at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport because he refused to be bumped. The man said he was a doctor who needed to see patients in hospital the following day.
A spokesman for Transport Minister Marc Garneau says bumping
rules will be included in an air passenger bill of rights that was
promised last fall.It is aimed at crafting minimum requirements for compensation when flights are oversold or luggage lost. (Broadcast News)
