Lots of great ways to celebrate being Canadian this long Canada Day Weekend here in the Nation’s Capital. On the hill, walking through the Byward Market, your own backyard plan or this.
The National Arts Centre will celebrate Canada Day by showcasing its rich cultural mosaic with a variety of free family friendly performances and activities on Monday in the NAC public spaces.
Canada Day at the NAC will feature fun, participatory activities and local artists.
Some of the highlights include, The NAC Orchestera with Music Director Alexander Shelley performing a few steps away from the NAC on Parliament Hill for the noon hour concert. The program includes “God Save the Queen”, NAC Orchestra’s own JUNO-Winning piece “My Name is Amanda Todd”, collaborations with hip hop artist K’Naan and pop singer Shawnee and more.
Your day all starts at 8:30 with Movement and Meditation, followed by Outdoor Yoga, the Powwow Workout, Outdoor BBQ and so much more til it winds down at 4pm.
Please note food and beverages are not free and that the event is not taking place at the NAC but in their public spaces, rain or shine.
It is also important to note that parking at and around the NAC is very limited on this day, with many street closures throughout the downtown core and they encourage you to take public transi but if you do park at the NAC, please do not leave any valuables in your car.
