Not only did Michael Buble host Sunday night’s Juno Awards in his home stomping grounds of Vancouver, he also picked up one of the awards! Buble won the Adult Contemporary Album Juno for “Nobody But Me.” (see video of the album’s title track below)
Some other highlights of the evening – the Barenaked Ladies were inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame by Rush frontman Geddy Lee. The band also retunited with former frontman Steven Page to perform together for the first time since he left the band and went solo nearly a decade ago.
The Junos were also a heart-warming affair for the family of the late Gord Downie. His two brothers Mike and Patrick accepted a posthumour Artist of the Year Juno for the late Tragically Hip frontman. Downie spent his last years before his October death from brain cancer working to improve indigenous rights. (The Canadian Press)
