Poor Sean Spicer, the White House spokesperson, known for his frequently combative posture with journalists. He’s become the brunt of many late night TV talk-show hosts and was famously lampooned by actress Melissa McCarthy on Saturday Night Live. His latest gaff saw him hiding ‘among’ the bushes on the White House lawn, after being caught off guard by journalists following the abrupt firing of FBI head James Comey last week. That awkward moment was all the inspiration Lisa Kadonaga of Victoria, B.C. needed to find a way to mock the press secretary, in a more light hearted way. She found a headshot of Sean Spicer that she liked, had it blown up and printed, and placed strategically in some lush shrubbery at a local bank. She then shared the picture with her approximately 200 Facebook friends.
Little did she know her ‘Spicer in the bush’ cutout would start trending on sites like Twitter, as well as appearing in mainstream media across North America and beyond. Lisa says that after fielding a veritable “tsunami of requests” for the picture, she decided to upload it to Dropbox where interest was so great that it temporarily crashed the site. Her Spicer cutout has since appeared in a variety of locales from as far away as Santa Monica, California and New Zealand!
