Air Canada Drops Aeroplan

Air Canada has announced plans to part ways with Aeroplan — the in-house frequent flyer program it spun off into an independent business 15 years ago.

It says it will launch its own loyalty rewards program after its agreement with Aimia — Aeroplan’s parent company — effectively ends June 30th, 2020.

The airline says the new program will offer additional earning and redemption opportunities, more personalized service and a better digital experience for its customers.

It adds members will still be able to collect and redeem Aeroplan miles until the new loyalty program launches and that any Aeroplan miles earned up to June, 2020 will stay in Aeroplan members’ accounts.
