13 people – several of them teenagers – have been displaced because of a two-alarm fire in Vanier. Ottawa Fire Services received multiple 911 calls reporting smoke and flames at 292 Lajoie Street just before 2 a.m. Upon arrival, fire fighters confirmed flames visible from the front of a two storey multiple unit residential building. One tenant reportedly suffered minor injuries. The cause not yet confirmed, but damage is in the range of 375 thousand dollars.
The area of Lajoie Street between Montreal Road and Levis Avenue was closed for a few hours in the aftermath of the fire but has since reopened. (OFS news release)
